The Association to Eradicate Poverty ​Solola Project

During their years of working with children and families, Fatimas realized that the root causes of poverty need to be addressed rather than supporting children and families that suffer from the results with handouts that do not change the problems.​ This grew into the Association to Eradicate Poverty with multiple programs. Two key programs are as follows:

Ra'Koch A'kal Balam

- Community Center with Medical Clinic, Library, Job Training, Classroom, Nutritional Support in Sololá Guatemala

Providing education, employment, malnutrition prevention and school support programs, medical support and clean water in the Rural Indigenous Community in San Jose Chacaya,  SOLALA Guatemala ​

Based on Fatima's success in creating a sustainable home and learning center environment with educational outreach, psychological and medical care in Guatemala City, they created the Association to Eradicate Poverty and began a pilot program in 2017. This lead to the indigenous community center as this population did not have access to the programs they were providing in the city.

We are super excited to be almost completed with the first project! The building construction of the Guatemalan designed and managed Solola Indigenous Community Center! This incredible life changing, community supported project includes a much-needed medical clinic, library, school drop-out prevention and malnutrition prevention programs, as well as protective housing. This center supports families, the land, and helps needy children stay healthy, with their own families, and opens up new opportunities for jobs and futures in their own country.  The programs that provide job training, education, and jobs for the local young adults and adults are focused on sustainability and maintaining the indigenous practices and culture.

Parent Counseling & Family Unification Center in Guatemala City.

Outreach programs prioritize changing the root problems leading to family poverty, child abuse & abandonment, rather than perpetuating existing problems with just free care.  Children and parents invest in their futures and wish to change it for the better! Caregivers must attend 1-yr of parenting classes and counseling prior to re-uniting or forming new families with children. Caregivers "earn" supplies for their entire family and show dedication to their children by consistent attendance at the classes and paying a small tuition.  The success of this program is so high. Entire communities are changing based on the employment and education of these parent leaders that move on to help others. Keeping children at home with their family. Opening doors to opportunities with their own investments in their futures.
